Happy New Year's Eve!

So this morning's breakfast ended up being...

a kikku apple
a rice cake with 1/2 tbsp almond butter
and 1/2 an oikos plain Greek yogurt with a cut up dried prune

I noticed that almond butter really gets rid of my sweet cravings...I'm going to have to get more.

This morning's breakfast was a plain oikos yogurt with 1/2 tbsp almond butter and a kikku apple.

Tomorrow night I am going to Brio for dinner...yum! I am going to need a good breakfast to keep me full and away from picking at food....

maybe some oatmeal?

or a rice cake with almond or peanut butter and an apple...I'm not really sure yet
or maybe some pumpkin oatmeal?

I will see what I am in the mood for tomorrow morning!

Recipe Time!

Here is a recipe for one of my favorite breakfasts!

1 pack of McCann's Irish Oatmeal (instant)
1 cup of Libby's canned pumpkin
2 packets of Truvia
Cinnamon

Mix the pumpkin with the Truvia and as much cinnamon as you desire and prepare the oatmeal as directed. Heat the pumpkin mixture for about 30 seconds and mix into the oatmeal. Feel free to add nuts, maple syrup, dried fruit, or any other toppings. This breakfast is 180 calories without any added toppings.
YAY I still have some seeduction bread left for breakfast tomorrow with some peanut or almond butter and a kiku apple.

Sadly, when I stepped on the scale I gained a few...please be water retention
But it's ok! I will get back on track for Saturday to ring in the new year!

Stuffed

Just got done the annual Christmas party......food coma is about to set in......
I had salad, a Primo's veggie hoagie slice, and green beans with carrots and a lot of other stuff. Not to mention my mom's famous carrot cake. Luckily, there are plenty of veggie hoagie slices left and green beans...And most importantly, the Seeduction bread from Whole Foods is left over.....mmmm my favorite!

I need to go on detox before our New Year's Eve dinner.

Tomorrow's Breakfast:
A slice of seeduction bread with peanut butter
some left over pineapple, strawberries, and grapes

I am dreading seeing the scale tomorrow.....but oh well its not like I eat huge amounts every day!

This is our annual gingerbread house! Every year it is a different theme. This year's was log cabin.
I really need to get some pictures on here to spice things up lol
OMG so much food and such a great Christmas!
My grandma, as usual, made enough food to feed a small nation!

This morning, I wasn't too hungry and definitely dehydrated, so I decided on eating a Kiku apple for breakfast. Our annual family Christmas party is tomorrow, so I was busy helping out my mom all day in the kitchen and running errands.

While we were in Whole Foods, I decided to try out their new smoothie bar for lunch. I picked "The Boss" which was pineapple, mango, strawberries, and carrot juice. It was great to have a smoothie with no added sweeteners, powders, etc. My insides felt nice and clean after drinking it. For dinner, I got one of my favorites, Saladworks. I usually create my own. Tonight it was spring mix, tuna, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, white beans, and chickpeas with fat free balsamic dressing. YUM

Tomorrow I will probably just have an apple in the morning because of the crazy amount of food to be had tomorrow night. Hopefully I won't fall off the wagon! It will be a year on New Years Eve since I promised myself that I will be healthier. I worked hard to lose those 16 pounds and I want to keep them off!!

What is your favorite smoothie combination?

CHRISTMAS!

I am so excited to spend tomorrow with more friends and family!
I'm eating a late lunch/early dinner at my grandmother's, so I will probably eat a small but filling breakfast.
Triple butter rice cake:

1 plain Quaker rice cake
1/2 tbsp almond butter
1/2 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 tbsp apple butter

YUM!
Have a Merry Christmas!!!

YUM

So I just ate the delicious breakfast I mentioned above and it was out of this world!
Hopefully, the protein will keep me full and focused for everything I have to do today.
It's too early to think about tomorrow's breakfast, but I know I will bombarded with food both healthy, and unhealthy and that I am going to have to make some choices. My grandmother is a classic Italian grandma. She makes you eat everything! Hopefully, I can have some willpower!

I would have posted a picture of my yogurt, but I ate it =) maybe tomorrow or tonight I will add some pics.

Stay sweet!

Shout out

I would also like to give a shout out to Melissa from www.melissalikestoeat.com
LOVE her site!

Amish Market

I was getting my dog groomed today at a new groomer that was kind of out of the way from where I live. Luckily, I found an awesome Amish market. The second I walked in I smelled the delicious breads, pastries, pies, and sticky buns (why do they keep tempting me!). Luckily, I made it out of there with only some bags of dried fruit and some homemade almond butter and apple butter yum!
For tomorrow, I would like to make a parfait for breakfast:

1 individual container of Oikos plan yogurt
2 tbsp apple butter
1/2 tbsp almond butter
1/2 apple chopped

sounds like heaven and it will prepare me for my busy Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

For Christmas Eve night, my mom, dad, brother, and I always go to mass around 5:30 pm and then come home and have a kind of cocktail party with what we call "picky foods".

This year, its pesto pizza, spicy tuna roll, turkey roll ups, crab cakes, and baked eggplant sticks with marinara to dip! The recipe for the eggplant is from Skinnytaste's blog. Check her out!

Breakfast for 12-23-2011

I love to plan what I am going to eat ahead of time so I feel prepared in case I wake up and there's a box of sticky buns that my brother has brought home from the bakery (soooo hard to resist!) I'm thinking:

1 packet of Irish oatmeal
1/2 tbsp mara-natha peanut butter (my favorite!)
1 tbsp of fluff (I just discovered how low cal it is!)
and half of a kiku apple (de-lish!)

wow this breakfast is 200 calories, perfect for letting me have some wiggle room to eat some holiday treats!
Good news considering the holiday season is here, but bikini season is around the corner!
